MELVIN'S MESSAGE:

Good afternoon CHES families,

As Thanksgiving approaches, I would to express my sincere gratitude to all the students, staff and families of CHES. The commitment to the education of our students is truly a sight to see and most definitely something to be proud of. I would also like to thank all of you for the nice, warm welcome that I have received here at CHES. This building is something special and with the hard work of the dedicated staff we are going to continue to do great things! Enjoy the holiday and Happy Thanksgiving!

If your child buys lunch at school, please login to Payschools to check your child's lunch balance. Negative lunch balances are continuing to be a problem at CHES and it needs to get fixed. You can enable the Low Balance Notifications feature in PaySchools to receive alerts when funds are running low. If you believe you may qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch, please contact the Food Service Department at 216-429-5736.

Today, we held the first indoor schools safety drill which is a lockdown level one. A lockdown level one is when there may a suspected threat outside of the school and no immediate danger inside the building. We had several of our community safety forces onsite to assist us with the drill and assess how things went. The staff and students did GREAT! We will continue to have school safety of all levels throughout the school year.

As we transition to colder weather, please be sure that your student(s) are dressed to go to and from school and possible outdoors for recess. Coats, hats and gloves can help prevent sickness. If your child has worn a coat, hat or gloves t school and they haven't found their way home yet, stop by the main office to check the lost and found. The pile is growing larger by the day.

Have a great weekend and an even better week,

Mr. Melvin

ATTENTION: Bus Riders, Please Register!

StopFinder is an app designed for parents of students who ride the school bus, providing real-time updates and essential information to ensure a smooth and secure commute. With StopFinder, parents can:

  1. View Student’s Schedule: Parents can access their child’s bus schedule, including pickup and drop-off times and locations.

  2. Share Schedule with Caregivers: The app allows parents to share their child’s bus schedule with other caregivers, ensuring everyone involved in the student's care is informed and prepared.

  3. Create GeoAlerts: Parents can set up custom geographic alerts. For example, when the bus enters or exits a specified area, parents receive a notification, which adds an extra layer of awareness and convenience.

  4. Configure ETA Alerts: Parents can enable Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) alerts that provide updates on the bus's arrival, reducing wait times and uncertainty.

  5. Receive Important Notifications: StopFinder sends alerts about important changes or incidents that might affect the bus route, such as late departures, traffic issues, or accidents, ensuring parents stay informed and can adjust plans if needed.

StopFinder is a comprehensive tool designed to give parents peace of mind by keeping them connected to their child’s transportation details.

StopFinder App Instructions

IMPORTANT NOTE: Parents cannot set up the app or login until you receive an activation email from our transportation department. This email was sent to the student's PRIMARY contact on August 14.

CAR RIDER PICKUP REMINDERS!

car

When picking up your student(s) in the car line, please remember to only scan the QR code when you get by the traffic light. Too many students are outside waiting for parents who are down the street. This will be difficult for students when the weather gets bad. Please keep your QR code in your car to use. Only ask the outside staff for the QR code as a last resort, as they are busy getting students safely to their cars. If you need a new QR code card, or if your username or password aren't working please contact the office and we will gladly help you. Thank you for your cooperation.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!

Regular attendance allows students to build a strong foundation in essential subjects like reading, writing, and mathematics. It also provides opportunities to interact with peers, develop social skills, and learn important life lessons. When students miss school, they may fall behind their classmates, struggle with assignments, and miss out on valuable learning experiences. Therefore, consistent attendance is essential for a child's success in school and beyond.
