Safety First:
As we gear up for the new year, let's talk about safety. Please speak with your friends and neighbors about bus safety, especially during morning and afternoon pick-up times. Remember to:
Follow all traffic laws
Slow down near schools and bus stops
Plan your route ahead of time
Always watch out for students near the road
Our bus riders' safety is super important. Let's all work together to keep them safe.

CHS TIP OF THE WEEK: Positive Routines for School Success
Establishing positive routines is crucial for student and family success because it creates a foundation for effective learning and reduces stress. Consistent routines provide structure and predictability, helping students feel secure and focused. This structure allows children to develop time management skills and self-discipline, which are essential for academic success and personal growth. Regular homework, reading, and bedtime routines ensure that students are well-rested and prepared for each school day.
For families, these routines can streamline mornings and evenings, reducing chaos and promoting quality time together. Positive routines also foster independence as students learn to take responsibility for their daily tasks. Additionally, they help form good habits beyond academics, such as maintaining physical health and managing personal responsibilities.
By establishing these positive routines early in the school year, we prepare our students for a more organized, productive, and successful educational experience while also supporting overall family well-being.
As we approach the start of the school year, here are some tips for all grade levels:
Preschool-5th Grade:
Set a consistent bedtime and wake-up time
Create a morning checklist (brush teeth, get dressed, eat breakfast)
Designate a spot for backpacks and school items
Establish a daily reading time
Use a visual schedule for after-school activities
6th-8th Grade:
Implement a homework routine with scheduled breaks
Use a planner to track assignments and deadlines
Limit screen time, especially before bed
Encourage regular exercise or physical activity
Create a weekly schedule for extracurricular activities
9th-12th Grade:
Develop a study schedule that includes review time
Use time-management tools (apps or planners)
Establish a dedicated, distraction-free study space
Plan for adequate sleep (8-10 hours nightly)
Incorporate stress-reduction activities (meditation, exercise, reading)
For All Students (and Superintendents!):
Prepare for the next day the night before (clothes, lunches, backpacks)
Have a set place and time for homework
Create a family calendar to track school events and deadlines
Plan for healthy meals and snacks
Establish open communication about school experiences
Remember, consistency is key when establishing routines. It may take time, but the benefits for your child's education and well-being are significant.
Let’s Reach New Heights Together!
PARENT "How To's" of the week:
Our CHampion Staff
Our Team plays an important part in your students day. We are the sacred pause in the middle of the day where students refuel their bodies and recharge their minds.
Cuyahoga Heights is a part of the National School Lunch Program, which provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to students each school day.
We attend yearly training and our staff is ServSafe Certified. ServSafe certification demonstrates to employers and customers that you have the knowledge and skills to prevent foodborne illness and ensure safe food handling practices. In Ohio, ServSafe certification is required by many employers, including restaurants, hotels, and catering companies.
As we embark on the new school year, we want to shine a light on the exceptional team within our Student Services Department. Their unwavering dedication is evident in their support for students at every stage of their educational journey, from preschool to high school, addressing a wide range of diverse needs.
Our Student Services staff are more than just professionals—they are compassionate advocates who empower ALL students to reach new HEIGHTS. From providing customized learning programs for students with disabilities to offering vital mental health and counseling services, this team ensures every child has the resources they need to succeed academically and personally. They work behind the scenes, ensuring equal access to education through Section 504 Plans and Individual Education Plans, supporting our English Language Learners (ELL), and delivering essential therapies such as speech, occupational, and physical therapy.
The department also houses our school psychologist, who provides critical assessments and interventions, and our Multi-tiered System of Support teams, which support positive student behavior and academic outcomes. Our school counselors, school social workers, and nursing staff work closely with families and students to connect them with community resources and manage health needs. The team also addresses attendance issues, offers support to students experiencing homelessness through the McKinney-Vento program, and provides educational services for students who require home instruction or homeschooling.
Leading these efforts are our dedicated specialists who plan for the future with transition services for students with disabilities and ensure the safety and well-being of all students through bullying prevention, non-violent crisis intervention, and extended school-year services.
We invite parents and guardians to join forces with our Student Services team. By staying informed and involved in your child's educational journey, we can create a nurturing environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive. Your support and collaboration are invaluable, and we thank you for it.

Students in grades one, two, and three have spent the past few weeks preparing for the new school year and addressing the summer slide. Through engaging literacy and math activities tailored to their individual needs, they are now ready to start the year on a strong note. Beyond academic enrichment, the students have enjoyed reconnecting with friends, completing crafts, and participating in fun, summer-themed projects.
Please fill out the Free/Reduced Lunch application to see if your student(s) qualify. If you filled out an application before July 1st, you must fill out a new application by September 30th to stay on the program. The 2024-25 bus routes are here. Our transportation department has been busy planning and organizing and is now eager to get rollin'. As the new school year approaches, we would like to ask for your patience in advance as we work out all of the initial kinks. Route times are subject to change at the beginning of the school year as we adjust for ridership. We encourage you to check the transportation web page for updates.
It is essential for both riders and parents to read the Transportation Guidelines to understand the expectations when boarding, riding, and exiting the school bus.
9:00 am - 10:00 am (Starting in the ES Gyymnasium)
Please join us for this informational orientation where you will hear about our Pre-K program and “the workings” of the school. You will have the opportunity to meet the teachers, drop off your student’s supplies, pick up dismissal tags, hear about opportunities to get involved, and ask any questions you may have.
Pre-K students should also attend. They will get to play during the parent meeting and then will go find their classrooms, lockers, and teachers!
As summer draws to a close, our campus is preparing for the upcoming 2024-25 school year. Join us with your family for the exciting Back-to-School Bash 2024-25, filled with games and activities. Skip cooking next Tuesday and enjoy dinner from food trucks. We'll also acknowledge the MS/HS Fall Sports teams and offer a sneak peek at our football team before the season starts. Middle School students can meet their teachers and drop off supplies during this event.
