August 1, 2025
Dear CHS Community,
Today marks the unofficial start to the 2025-26 school year. Our fall athletic seasons officially began for our teams and coaches, signaling the transition from summer break to the anticipation of a new academic year.
Next week brings band camp to our campus, while our elementary summer school program wraps up its session. With Ohio's sales tax holiday running for the next two weeks, this is an ideal time for families to complete their back-to-school shopping preparations.
While these activities signal that school is approaching, I encourage families to continue soaking up the sun and enjoying summer activities while they still can. There are still precious days remaining to make those lasting summer memories.
It is definitely an exciting time as we prepare for our students' first day on August 21. The energy and anticipation are building as we move closer to welcoming everyone back to campus.

Getting Ready for a New School Year: Fresh Start Strategies
A new school year represents a fresh beginning filled with opportunities for growth, learning, and achievement. Starting with intentional preparation sets the foundation for academic success and builds confidence for the year ahead. Taking time now to organize, plan, and mentally prepare helps students transition smoothly into their new routines. Here are some fresh start strategies to help your child begin the year successfully:
Preschool-5th Grade:
Create a countdown calendar to build excitement for the first day
Practice writing their name and basic information clearly
Set up a special "school corner" at home with supplies and books
Visit the school playground or walk around the building if possible
6th-8th Grade:
Organize a new binder system with dividers for each subject
Practice combination lock skills if transitioning to lockers
Review the school map and locate classrooms ahead of time
Set up a digital calendar or planner system for assignments
9th-12th Grade:
Review graduation requirements and course planning
Update resume with summer activities and accomplishments
Research extracurricular opportunities and leadership roles
Set both academic and personal growth goals for the year
For All Students:
Gradually adjust sleep schedules to match school routines
Update emergency contact information and health forms
Shop for school supplies using official grade-level lists
Discuss hopes and expectations for the upcoming year
Remember, preparation builds confidence! Taking these steps now will help your child start the school year feeling organized, excited, and ready to learn.

Einheit Electric Construction is moving forward with the replacement of the fire and security alarm systems in the Middle and High School complex. This comprehensive upgrade, prompted by last summer’s system failure, is designed to provide greater safety and long-term reliability.
Much of the new wiring is now in place, hardware installation is progressing, and initial system testing has begun. The project remains on track to continue through the summer.
As part of the hillside stabilization project, it was necessary to replace pavement and concrete near the stadium bleachers. To ensure consistency and improve the space, the entire area behind the bleachers was repaved, creating a safer and more polished setting for events.
