Dear CHS Community,
Next week (9/8-9/12) is Homecoming week at CHS! Student Council has organized an exciting spirit week to engage our students throughout the week, featuring themed dress-up days (see flyer below) and activities that build school pride and engage the student body. The Homecoming game, which is also our first varsity home game of the season, takes place Friday against Wickliffe.
Before the game, be sure to join us for our PTO Family Tailgate located in the CHES parking lot. Entry is free, and hot dogs, chips, and drinks will be provided while supplies last. Most games and activities are free, with a few games and raffles serving as pay-to-play fundraisers. This event brings together families from across our district and creates connections that strengthen our school community. All school district families are welcome!
The week culminates with our Homecoming dance on Saturday in the CHHS cafeteria, where students can celebrate with friends and create lasting memories. Whether you are cheering from the stands, enjoying the tailgate festivities, or simply showing your school pride, Homecoming week represents what makes Cuyahoga Heights Schools special.
Reaching New Heights Together,
Matt Young
Superintendent
Building Strong Communication Bridges with Teachers
Strong communication between families and teachers creates a powerful support network that enhances student learning and success. When parents and educators work together as partners, students benefit from consistent expectations, timely support, and a shared commitment to their growth. Effective communication helps address challenges early, celebrates achievements, and ensures that everyone is working toward the same goals. Here are some strategies for building meaningful partnerships with your child's teachers:
Preschool-5th Grade:
Use the school's preferred communication methods consistently
Share important information about your child's interests, strengths, and needs
Respond promptly to teacher communications and requests
6th-8th Grade:
Encourage your child to communicate directly with teachers while staying informed
Check online grade portals regularly and discuss progress at home
Attend conferences prepared with specific questions and observations
Support school policies and reinforce expectations at home
9th-12th Grade:
Help your teen develop professional communication skills for contacting teachers
Stay involved in academic planning while encouraging student independence
Collaborate with counselors on college and career preparation
Maintain appropriate boundaries while remaining accessible for support
For All Students:
Be proactive in reaching out when questions or concerns arise
Show appreciation for teachers' efforts and dedication
Keep contact information current and check school communications regularly
Work together to solve problems rather than placing blame
Remember, teachers want your child to succeed just as much as you do. Building strong communication bridges creates the foundation for a successful and supportive school year.
This week we proudly shine the spotlight on our incredible school counselors! Every day, they serve as a vital support system for our students, helping them navigate academic challenges, set future goals, and care for their mental and emotional well-being. Whether offering a listening ear, guiding students through important decisions, or fostering a safe and welcoming environment, our counselors go above and beyond to make a difference. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment truly embody what it means to be a Red Wolf.

As the new school year approaches, we would like to ask for your patience in advance as we work out all of the initial kinks. Route times are subject to change at the beginning of the school year as we adjust for ridership. We encourage you to check the transportation web page for updates.
