Dear CHS Community,
That is a wrap on the 2025-26 school year. Where did the time go?
In the moment, the days and weeks had their own weight. The stretch of calamity days, the demands of testing season, the busy final weeks - all of it felt significant as we lived through it. But looking back, the year moved quickly, as school years always do.
Our students experienced their own seasons throughout the year. There were periods of adjustment and growth, stretches of challenge and perseverance, and moments of celebration and achievement. Just as spring follows winter, our students emerged from each difficult stretch a little stronger, a little more capable, and a little more prepared for what comes next. That is what education is supposed to do.
This year brought remarkable accomplishments. National recognitions for our elementary school. Silver Medal AP status at the high school. A 5-star state report card for all three buildings. Postseason athletic runs. Outstanding performances on stage and in the classroom. One hundred percent student participation during state testing. Each of these reflects the dedication of our students, the commitment of our staff, and the support of our families and community.
To our families and community members, thank you for choosing Cuyahoga Heights Schools and for investing in the education and growth of our students. Your support makes everything we accomplish possible. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in late August.
Have a wonderful summer. Rest, recharge, and enjoy the time with those who matter most.
Reaching New Heights Together,
Matt Young Superintendent

Transitioning to Summer - Reflecting on Year-End Success |
Today marks the end of the fourth quarter and the conclusion of another remarkable school year. This transition to summer is a moment worthy of genuine celebration and thoughtful reflection. Looking back on a year of growth, challenges overcome, and achievements earned helps students internalize their learning and carry important lessons forward. As we close this chapter together, let's take time to honor the journey and look forward with excitement to what lies ahead. Here are some strategies for meaningful year-end reflection and transition:
|
|
|
-
Create a "highlights of the year" conversation at dinner or family time
- Gather and celebrate special projects, artwork, and assignments from the year
- Discuss favorite memories, friendships, and learning experiences
- Help them express gratitude to teachers and school staff who made a difference
|
|
-
Reflect on goals set at the beginning of the year and measure progress made
- Discuss what strategies worked well academically and what to adjust next year
- Acknowledge personal growth in maturity, responsibility, and independence
- Celebrate friendships and community built throughout the year
|
|
- Review the year's accomplishments and how they contribute to long-term goals
- Reflect on challenges overcome and lessons learned from difficult moments
- Express appreciation for teachers, coaches, and mentors who supported growth
- Look forward to next year with specific intentions and goals already in mind
|
|
- Celebrate the completion of another successful school year together
- Acknowledge the hard work of everyone involved in their education
- Approach summer with both excitement for rest and anticipation for growth
- Carry the lessons and memories of this year forward with pride and gratitude
|
|
|
Remember, the end of the school year is not just a finish line; rather, it's a launching pad. Everything learned, experienced, and overcome this year has prepared our students for even greater success ahead. Have a wonderful and restful summer! |

Third Grade Living Wax Museum |
On Tuesday, June 2, the third grade students presented their biography research in the form of a Living Wax Museum. Over the course of four weeks, students conducted research, created a presentation, and wrote an essay and a speech. Students focused on their historical person's childhood, adulthood, and achievements. As the culminating project, third graders dressed up as their historical figure and presented a speech to the family, friends, and staff members who attended the Living Wax Museum.
